nIkkat is a labour intensive craf t that requires years of practice to perfect. In India, the most recognisable forms of Ikkat come from the Southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Orissa. Ikkat’s signature blurry ef fect of resist-dyeing on silk or cotten is recreated by trained artisans using a special brush.
